Kangwon Land successfully defended its profitability in the third quarter of this year by maintaining stable revenue levels despite the challenge of declining casino visitor numbers. According to recently disclosed data, Kangwon Land's Q3 revenue was approximately 350 billion won, showing only a slight fluctuation compared to the same period last year. Conversely, the number of visitors to the casino floor was confirmed at 600,000, a 10.2% decrease year-on-year, suggesting that the drop in visitors did not directly translate into a decline in revenue.
Changes in Revenue Structure and Background
A Kangwon Land official attributed the decline in visitors to changes in consumption patterns among domestic casino users and reduced travel demand due to the economic downturn. However, despite these circumstances, the revenue per person (drop) rose slightly, and the increased revenue share from non-casino sectors, such as hotels and resorts, supported overall performance. It is widely assessed that the reinforcement of comprehensive resort content for family tourists has acted as a key driving force for resort profitability.
