Strong government-level regulatory and oversight systems are being established to ensure the casino industry settles as a healthy tourism and leisure sector. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently announced plans to expand regular inspections of casino venues and improve systems to enhance operational transparency. This is interpreted as a commitment to improving the industry's fundamentals so that casinos can contribute to the tourism sector as a core element of integrated resorts, rather than being viewed merely as gambling facilities.
Measures to Enhance Industry Transparency
The government has decided to verify the accuracy of sales performance reports for domestic and international casino operators and establish a constant monitoring system to block illegal fund inflows. In particular, the gaming operation methods within integrated resorts will be regularly evaluated for compliance with international standards. These measures are intended to improve negative perceptions of the casino industry and secure external credibility through transparent operations. Relevant ministries emphasized that strengthening transparency is a prerequisite for the sustainable development of the industry.
